Sinossi: Gianni, un uomo di mezzetà, figlio unico di madre vedova, vive con sua madre in una vecchia casa nel centro di Roma. Tiranneggiato da lei, nobildonna decaduta, trascina le sue giornate fra le faccende domestiche e losteria. Il giorno prima di Ferragosto lamministratore del condominio gli propone di tenere in casa la propria mamma per i due giorni di vacanza. Synopsis: Gianni is a middle-aged man, the only son of a widow, who lives with his mother in an old house in the center of Rome. He is at the beck and call of his mother, a fallen noblewoman, and passes his days between housework and the bar. The day before the August holiday ferragosto, Giannis apartment building manager asks Gianni if his own mother can stay with him for the two day vacation. In exchange, he will overlook years of accumulated debts in maintenance charges, and Gianni is forced to accept

| Biografia / Biography: Gianni Di Gregorio nasce a Roma in Trastevere, dove tuttora vive e lavora. Dopo gli studi classici si iscrive a Lettere moderne, ma prima della laurea abbandona per frequentare lAccademia di Arti Sceniche di Roma diretta da Alessandro Fersen. Si diploma in regia e recitazione. Per tre anni lavora nel Laboratorio di Ricerca Sperimentale di Fersen (con seminari e scambi con i gruppi di Bob Wilson, Grotowski, Kantor, Chaikin) che sfocia nello spettacolo Leviathan. Dopo tre anni di teatro, come aiuto regista ed attore, la visione del film Mean Streets di Scorsese lo turba al punto che abbandona il teatro e comincia a lavorare nel cinema come assistente alla regia. Si orienta poi verso la sceneggiatura. Gianni Di Gregorio was born in Romes Trastevere district, where he continues to live and work. He studied humanities in college but dropped out to attend Romes Academy of Scenic Arts run by Alessandro Fersen, where he studied directing and acting. Di Gregorio then worked for three years at Fersens Laboratorio di ricerca sperimentale (participating in seminars and exchanges with the groups of Bob Wilson, Grotowski, Kantor, and Chaikin) which culminated with the play Leviathan. After three years of theater, as both assistant director and actor, seeing Scorseses Mean Streets moved him so much that he left theater and began to work in film, first as an assistant director and later as a screenwriter.
